Gifts for Foodies from Our WA Hives
Fermented, infused and hot honeys, a honey cookbook and good coffee for the person who cooks for everyone
The foodie in the family is hard to buy for because they’ve usually already got the good olive oil and the fancy salt. What they won’t have is a chilli honey fermented in WA or a jar of honey with dried lemon slices sitting in it. The honeys here all come from our own hives in regional WA, alongside a few things we love to pair with them, like Queen Bee coffee and our honey cookbook.
Order by Friday 11 December for Christmas delivery anywhere in Australia. Free shipping on orders over $129.
Foodie Gifts from the Honey Shelf
All our flavoured honeys start with our own raw bush honey. In our fermented honeys, like Chilli Honey and Fermented Habanero Hot Honey, the chilli is fermented into the honey for at least four weeks, and they’re made for drizzling over pizza, fried chicken, roast pumpkin or a slice of good cheddar.
The infused lemon honey and infused orange honey are a different thing again. Each jar has dried fruit slices sitting in the honey, the flavour keeps developing over time, and the slices are soft enough to eat, so a foodie can spoon them straight onto yoghurt or into a dressing.
A Honey Cookbook Written by Beekeepers
Our Hive to Home honey recipe cookbook was put together by Casey and Leah Piesse, the WA beekeepers behind Piesseful Bees, and it’s full of sweet and savoury recipes built around the honey they produce. It makes a lovely gift on its own, and an even better one with a jar or two of honey so they can start cooking straight away.
If they’re the type to want a recipe before the jar’s even open, our hot honey recipe is a good one to start with over the summer holidays.
The Cook's Set
Gifts for Coffee Lovers
For the friend who grinds their own beans, a bag of Queen Bee Coffee Original Blend comes as whole beans, 100% Arabica, roasted medium-dark. It has notes of caramel and cocoa with a little citrus at the finish, and its lower acidity means it works as well in a long black as it does in a milky flat white. The blend has picked up awards here and overseas, including a gold medal in 2018.
A spoon of Raw Creamed Honey stirred into that flat white is a nice change from sugar, and the pair makes a tidy gift for the coffee lover who has every gadget already.
Raw Honeycomb for the Cheese Board
A piece of raw honeycomb in the middle of a Christmas cheese board gets more attention than the cheese. You cut a square, wax and all, and spread it on a cracker with something salty like a sharp cheddar or blue. For someone who wants to taste their way across the range first, the honey sample box gives them a few jars to compare before they settle on a favourite.
The flavour in each jar comes from whichever trees were flowering near our hives across regional WA, from near Lancelin down to the south, which is why a foodie will taste a real difference between Red Gum, Jarrah and Bush. The rest of our honey gifts are sorted by budget and by who they’re for on the main gifts page.

Foodie Gift FAQs
What do you do with fermented honey?
Use it anywhere you’d want sweetness with a bit of a kick. Drizzle it over pizza, roast vegetables or fried chicken, brush it over meat at the end of cooking, or whisk it into a salad dressing with some olive oil and vinegar.
Can you eat the fruit in the infused honey?
Yes. The lemon and orange slices are dried before they go in, which is exactly why they’re left in the jar. They soften in the honey and can go straight onto yoghurt, porridge or a cheese board.
How long do the infused honeys keep?
They don’t carry a best before date, and the flavour keeps developing in the jar over time. Store them in the pantry with the lid on.
What's the difference between infused and fermented honey?
Fermented honeys like Chilli and Habanero have the chilli fermented into our bush honey for at least four weeks, which gives them their heat. Infused honeys like Lemon and Orange have dried fruit slices sitting in the honey, so the flavour is fresher and the fruit is there to eat.
Will it arrive before Christmas?
We dispatch within 7 business days, and delivery can take up to 14 business days in total, so for Christmas delivery anywhere in Australia, order by Friday 11 December. Anything in glass, honey jars included, goes by Express post.
