MEET THE BEEKEEPERS
Get To Know Casey and Leah
We launched Piesseful Bees in 2020, after Leah was stood down from her job as a travel agent due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It called for a career change and was a blessing in disguise! Leah went back to work in travel after 9 months but in February 2022, she resigned to work for the business full time.
Casey has been beekeeping on and off since he was a child, with the help of his dad and some very close family friends, who are commercial beekeepers themselves. He still works his FIFO job and loves working the bees between swings.
When we first started our small beekeeping business, we had 10 hives. Since then, we’ve welcomed millions of bees into the family, as we’ve grown our number of hives to well over 100!
Since our inception, providing our local community with the raw knowledge and purest honey has been our greatest intention. We pride ourselves on ethical and sustainable beekeeping, as bees are vital to our world. We do not artificially feed our bees EVER, this ensures only the most natural honey is produced.
You’ll usually find Leah in the world of our social media pages or at the market stalls, ready to have a chat and help you explore our range where Casey prefers to spend his time with the bees out bush. Since opening our shop at the Wanneroo Markets, we’ve introduced Mama Sam into our team. She is Leah’s mum and LOVES chatting to our customers in the shop.
We often have people comment on how busy we are, and that’s just the way we like it. We have a 5 year old daughter and recently welcomed our youngest daughter into our family. Between family life, jobs and the business, we are busy bees indeed.
FUN FACT: Our business name, Piesseful Bees Honey, is derived from Casey’s surname and is pronounced the same as ‘peaceful’.
