Our family-run beekeeping business is based north of Perth in the Moore River Region, with a local market shop at Malaga Markets in Perth. Our hives are carefully placed across the South West of WA, allowing us to harvest from a variety of environments and floral sources throughout the year. WA’s Unique Environment Creates Exceptional Honey
Western Australia’s isolation plays a major role in why its honey is so revered. For decades, WA has remained free from Varroa mite, one of the world’s most destructive pests for honeybees. Combined with the state’s strict biosecurity measures and vast untouched bushland, this has allowed beekeepers to work with incredibly healthy bees and pristine nectar sources. We proudly care for our bees and work with the land to support happy bees who create the very best honeys.
The result is honey that’s naturally clean, unblended and often incredibly high in activity levels. Western Australian honey is known for its antibacterial properties, powerful antioxidant content and unique flavour profiles shaped by native flora that thrive only in this part of the world.
Iconic Varieties of Western Australian Honey
Part of what makes WA honey so special is the diversity of floral sources. Some honeys are single-origin, harvested from hives placed in specific regions, while others are wildflower blends that capture the seasonal bloom. We’ve covered these in more detail in our blog on WA honey varieties.
Rich, caramel-like and naturally low in glucose, Jarrah honey is famous worldwide for its exceptionally high Total Activity (TA) levels. It’s often compared to Manuka, but many consider it even more potent in terms of antioxidant and antibacterial strength.
Marri honey has a bold, fruity flavour and a distinct aroma. It’s a favourite for pairing with cheeses or adding complexity to both sweet and savoury dishes.
Light, delicate and clean-tasting, White Gum honey is beautifully smooth and perfect for everyday use. It’s often the go-to variety for tea drinkers and those who prefer a subtle sweetness.
Harvested from Blackbutt trees (Eucalyptus patens) in the South West’s forested regions, Blackbutt honey is smooth, rich and aromatic. It’s generally darker than White Gum, with a more robust flavour profile that makes it a favourite for those who love a deeper, full-bodied honey. Blackbutt trees flower more frequently than Karri, so this variety is more consistently available, but it still captures the essence of WA’s native forests beautifully.
As the seasons change, WA’s wildflower plains burst into colour. Bees collect nectar from a mix of native blooms, resulting in complex, layered honeys that reflect the landscape in full bloom.

Beyond the unique environment and floral sources, west honey stands out for how it’s produced. WA beekeepers often use traditional, small-batch beekeeping methods. Honey is typically cold-extracted and minimally filtered, preserving its natural enzymes, antioxidants and full-bodied flavour.
